Background
Development of the therapy tricycle was a joint collaboration between Georgia Tech undergraduate designers and engineers and University of North Georgia Physical Therapy doctoral candidates. Inspired by the The Radio Flyer CycloneTM, physical therapists at the University of North Georgia identified the need for a physical therapy tricycle that resembled less like a clinical machine and more like a child’s toy.
Client
Physical therapy tricycles allow children with disabilities or limited mobility to experience the excitement of riding a toy, while increasing strength and tone in intended areas, specifically exercising trunk and arm movement.
